Stubborn, me?

Here’s the aforementioned Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus photographed this week. It has at least done a reasonable amount of growing this year.
As you can see the compost mix it is in is mostly inorganic – grit and sand, with probably less than a third of it being John Innes No. 2 loam-based compost.
A plant I’m not expecting to bloom in the near future is this Ariocarpus retusus ‘furfuraceus’; the shortest tubercle near the centre of the plant is new this year, as is all the wool in the middle of the plant, but it’ll need to be a fair bit bigger than its current size of an inch and a half in diameter before it decides to do anything in the flowering department.
