New arrivals
Posted by Stuart under: Cacti; Propagation .
One of the nicest things about the hobby is the fact that all gardeners – regardless of what they grow – enjoy giving bits of plants away, or swapping them for bits of other plants that they don’t already have.
Today saw a veritable invasion of Opuntioids arrive via ParcelForce – cuttings of a selection of Tephrocactus, Pterocactus, Puna and Opuntia species I’ve received in exchange for some pads from my large plants of O. leucotricha, O. ursina, and O. quimilo.
The one I’m most excited about is this lump (badly photographed in the dark, so apologies for that) of Puna clavarioides. I haven’t had a plant of this species for at least ten years; the last one, unfortunately, never really rooted down properly.
There’s a good photo of an adult plant in flower here.
I have another sizable potting job ahead of me this weekend!
