Three more Conophytums
Posted by Stuart under: Other Succulents .
All three of the photos below were taken on the 2nd of December. From left to right, they are Conophytum truncatum, now coming to the end of its flowering period, and looking a bit shrivelled, Conophytum bilobum just showing a bud, and Conophytum tantillum ssp heleniae struggling to open its flower under a gloomy early winter sky.

Hello – I have a question – why do you put such small plants in tall pots? Well they look like tall pots….

The pots themselves are actually very small as well – normal 2″ round pots, basically the smallest standard pots you can buy easily from a garden centre.
You’re right though, the plants don’t need that much root room, not at the moment anyway, but it’s really a question of what’s available. You used to be able to get “half pots” in larger pot diameters but I don’t know whether you still can.
